So to start with, Lego Marvel Superheroes fans, like myself, are all going crazy this week. An Ulitmate Collectors Series (USC) Helicarrier has been officially confirmed and is said to be released next year. We can assume that the set will include at least 2000 pieces, multiple new minifigures, and a price point of, at the very least, $199.99. But more than likely it will be $299.99 or even $349.99. In the recent Lego Official video presentation for the new Detective Office modular building, Lego gave us the subtle hint that confirmed the rumors that have been circulating for the past year now. In the “Design” screen that is in all these type of videos, Lego showed us what appears to be the Helicarrier and a mini quinjet. Here is a picture, look in the G 🙂
Lego Avengers Age of Ultron set details (the figs listed are not all that will be in the sets, there will surely be more than those listed) –
Iron vs. Ultron – #76029 – 90 pieces – $12.99 to $14.99 – Iron Man, Ultron
Avengers Hydra Showdown – #76030 – 220 pieces – $19.99 to $24.99 – Thor, Hawkeye
The Hulkbuster Smash – #76031 – 248 pieces – $24.99 to $34.99 – Iron Man, Hulk, Black Widow
The Avengers Quinjet City Chase – #76032 – 722 pieces – $69.99 to $89.99 – Captain America
Attack on Avengers Tower – #76038 – 511 pieces – $49.99 to $69.99 – Iron Man, Thor, Ultron
My thoughts on these are both excitement and confusion. I’ll start with the first set, Iron vs. Ultron, I don’t think that name will stick, it will probably be Iron Man vs. Ultron. Also it seems strange to get the main villain in the cheapest set, but I’m not complaining. 🙂 The Hydra Showdown set looks promising, I’m a fan of anything Hydra or Captain America. It feels like Captain America should be in this set considering Hydra is highly connected to the Captain. The Hulkblaster Showdown seems a bit out of place. Another 200 piece-range set? Although it will be nice to get a Hulk figure for under $50. The Quinjet City Battle is probably the most surprising to me, a quinjet set was released in the original Avengers sets so I didn’t ever think there would be a second one in this set wave. And finally, Avengers Tower. This one might be an “exclusive” type set, like the ones that are available only at Toys R Us, or only at Target, etc. I think this because if the set numbers are right, this set is the only one that doesn’t go in order. Note that it is 76038, while all the rest are in numerical order between 76029 and 76032. It’s also different to see Iron Man in a third set, usually Lego doesn’t like to do more than 2 sets in a wave with duplicate figures, but maybe this is an exception. There is also the possibility that the 3rd Iron Man fig could be a different suit like the Iron Patriot minifigure or even an Iron Mech macro-figure.
We can safely assume that we will be seeing Quicksilver, Scarlet Witch, and maybe even The Winter Soldier minifigures. There are also rumors of a 6th set, #76041, but no details have been released as of yet. From the list above, I can tell this is going to be one of the best Marvel waves to date, and my wallet might suffer severely.
